Make this creamy whipped ricotta dip in minutes. It is an easy appetizer perfect for entertaining, topped with sweet and spicy hot honey and crunchy walnuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 15 ounces whole milk ricotta cheese, drained if very wet
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (or more, to taste)
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
  • Crostini, crackers, or fresh vegetables for serving

Instructions

  1. Toast the walnuts: Place the chopped walnuts in a small, dry skillet over medium heat. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring often, until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Prepare the hot honey: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey and hot sauce until combined. Set aside.
  3. Whip the ricotta: Place the drained ricotta cheese, olive oil, salt, and pepper into a food processor. Process for 1 to 2 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides, until the mixture is completely smooth, light, and airy.
  4. Assemble the dip: Transfer the whipped ricotta to a shallow serving bowl.
  5. Top the dip: Drizzle the hot honey mixture evenly over the ricotta. Sprinkle the toasted walnuts over the top.
  6. Serve immediately with your choice of bread or vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • If you do not have a food processor, you can use a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, but whip for a longer time, about 3 to 4 minutes, until very smooth.
  • For a richer flavor, use high-quality, full-fat ricotta cheese.
  • You can substitute pistachios or pecans for the walnuts if you prefer a different crunch.
