Make this bright, sweet-tart Lemon Drop Martini. This recipe uses simple ingredients for a perfectly balanced, refreshing citrus cocktail ideal for happy hour or entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup (or to taste)
  • Granulated sugar, for rimming
  • Lemon twist, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sugar rim: Pour granulated sugar onto a small plate. Rub the rim of a chilled martini glass with a lemon wedge, then gently dip the rim into the sugar to coat it evenly. Set the glass aside.
  2. Combine ingredients: Pour the vodka, fresh lemon juice, triple sec, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake well: Close the shaker tightly and shake hard until the outside of the shaker is very cold, about 15 to 20 seconds.
  4. Strain: Strain the mixture into the prepared, sugar-rimmed martini glass.
  5. Garnish: Express the oils from a lemon twist over the drink and place the twist on the rim or inside the glass.

Notes

  • For a sweeter drink, increase the simple syrup to 0.75 oz. For a tarter drink, reduce the simple syrup to 0.25 oz.
  • If you do not have simple syrup, dissolve 1 tablespoon of sugar in 1 tablespoon of hot water, then cool before using.
  • Chill your martini glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes before serving for the best result.
