Make tender, juicy steak bites effortlessly in your slow cooker. This simple crockpot steak recipe uses garlic butter for rich flavor, perfect for a weeknight dinner served over mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the steak cubes dry with paper towels. Season the steak cubes evenly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steak cubes in batches until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Do not overcrowd the skillet.
  3. Transfer the seared steak bites to your slow cooker.
  4. In the same skillet (off the heat), add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  5. Pour the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce into the skillet. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  6. Pour this liquid mixture over the steak bites in the slow cooker. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the top.
  7. Place the pieces of butter evenly over the steak.
  8. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours, or on HIGH for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the steak is very tender.
  9. Stir gently before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve these juicy crockpot steak bites over mashed potatoes or rice for a complete family crock pot dinner.

Notes

  • For extra tender steak, ensure you cut the sirloin against the grain before cubing.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the steak before the last 30 minutes of cooking, then mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and stir into the liquid in the slow cooker. Cook on HIGH until thickened.
  • This recipe works well for set it and forget it meals on busy days.
