Make this easy baked brie in puff pastry for an elegant appetizer that impresses guests. You get a warm, gooey cheese center wrapped in flaky, golden pastry. It is perfect for parties or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel Brie cheese, cold
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons fig jam or apricot preserves
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 teaspoon water (for egg wash)
  • Optional: Chopped pecans or walnuts for topping
  • Optional: Honey for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour a clean work surface. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. If the sheet is large, you may need to trim it slightly to fit around the Brie wheel.
  3. Place the cold Brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry. Spread the jam evenly over the top surface of the Brie wheel.
  4. Bring the edges of the puff pastry up and over the Brie, meeting in the center on top of the cheese. Pinch the seams together firmly to seal the pastry completely around the cheese. Trim any excess dough.
  5. Carefully flip the wrapped Brie over so the seam side is down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Brush the entire surface of the pastry package with the egg wash. If using nuts, sprinkle them lightly over the top now.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed. The cheese inside should be soft and melted.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving. Drizzle with honey, if desired.
  9. Serve immediately with crackers, apple slices, or baguette pieces for dipping.

Notes

  • Keep the Brie cold until you are ready to wrap it; this helps prevent the cheese from melting out during assembly.
  • For a crispier bottom crust, you can place the wrapped brie on a wire rack set over the baking sheet before baking.
  • If you want a sweeter topping, use raspberry preserves or a mix of brown sugar and chopped pecans.
